20. A Time To Heal
Jan. 4 - 10, 2003 Toronto, ON

I’m still in Canada, taking my time to heal. It turns out that I have an infection called epididymitis in my left testicle. I decided I’d get to the bottom of it before heading back to America. Y-know, free health care and all. The thing is, is that I still don’t know what’s causing it. We’ve ruled out chlamydia and Gonorrhoeae and I’ll find out more from the results of an ultrasound tomorrow. My friend (name withheld) and I, as you can imagine have had a pretty trippy week to say the least.

Both of us were critical of our lax attitude on latex that could have contributed to this particular infection. For me it’s a trip because my dad died of AIDS, so I’ve had ample first-hand knowledge of how potentially damaging STD’s can be. I felt mostly like I’d let myself down. My partner has been  really understanding and communicative throughout it all. We talked about blame and how, in the event of bad news, feeding blame energy would not be solving anything and would just create more problems. Also, it’s amazing how just talking about it makes you realize how many people are dealing with or have dealt with similar issues. The stigma attached to STD’s makes it hard to imagine myself or others I love being affected by them. By talking about our realities, we can break down the walls that come between us all.

Presently, I’ve been taking antibiotics (which I don’t really like doing, but when it comes to your nuts, and you don’t know what else to do,   Babylon is there) and they seem to be alleviating the problem. Give thanks for Health and Vitality!

In the meantime, I'm boning up on some knowledge and doing some other work for the company here in Toronto (selling papers) and I'll update again soon! Check out these websites for good positive ways to expend energy. Peace! Yo
