Hemphry
1940's
VW SketchOn 23 April, 1947, Ben Pon, a Dutch businessman, while waiting to pitch his plan to become the Dutch Volkswagen importer, was struck with a vision. He took his notebook and sketched an oblong transport vehicle. It really wasn't much more then a soapbox on wheels with a cab in front and in the back, the engine. Nobody is really sure how his meeting ended, but one thing was for sure, his idea was revolutionary.

On October 1949 Volkswagen pronounced of its new type 29: "It is a van with a lot of possibilities. It is maneuverable, it has enough power uphill, and is low cost in use and maintenance. It is easy to load and reliable in summer and winter. It is a real Volkswagen." The T2, known affectionately as Mama Splittie, rolls off the line with a twinkle in her eye...


1970's
1971 - Hemphry, with just an inkling of the great fun to come makes his way into the heart of the counter culture revolution. The next thirty years were joyfully spent exploring the far reaches of North America, more often than not in search of the next great gig.

2000's
June 2002 - Hemphry happens into the hands of Natural Emphasis, and his rebirth begins. Hemphry is handed over to Mike, from Splash Murals, and is hempified - miraculously transforming Hemphry into a rolling hemp field.

July 2002 - Destiny...Hemphry meets Yo. A match made in Heaven. And the adventure begins...
